SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) rollover's can be a very dangerous type of traffic accident. An SUV rollover can occur when the stability of the SUV is top heavy or makes a sudden turn which may consequentially cause the vehicle to roll over.

Several issues which may contribute to an SUV Rollover, are:

  • Failure to control speed
  • Being overloaded, top-heavy
  • Poor weather conditions
  • Mismatched tires, poor tire condition

In a recent report by the NHTSA, nearly 2,500 people were killed due to injuries related to SUV rollovers. Moreover, better than 60,000 people in the US experience an SUV rollover every year. SUV's are considered to be one of the most dangerously unstable vehicles on the roads today.With the soaring popularity of SUV's, the high death and high injury rate is a factor that has to be taken into consideration.

If you own an SUV, there it is extremely important to make sure that you are performing preventive maintenance on your vehicle on a regular and timely basis. Check the air in the tires often. Refer to you vehicle owners manual and follow the recommended guidelines for the recommended PSI (pounds per square inch) amount for the vehicle is to operate within. Make sure that you take your vehicle in to have a certified mechanic inspect your vehicle for any worn, damaged or faulty parts and components as well.
