Motorcyclist Involved in Fatal Crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Tuesday, October 2 at Centreville Road and Lees Corner Road. The crash occurred around 5:21 a.m. as a 52-year-old man operating a 2003 Dodge Dakota turned into the path of a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The driver of the Dodge was traveling south on Centreville Road and attempted to make a left turn onto Lees Corner Road under a green light without yielding. The 54-year-old driver of the Harley was driving north on Centreville Road and also had a green light. The motorcyclist was medevaced to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was pronounced dead just after noon. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
Alan Hensberger, of 20399 Tholen Street in Ashburn, was cited for failure to yield on a left turn and released on a summons. The deceased has been identified as Robert Knight, Jr., of 6407 Beales Court in Bealton. Speed and alcohol were not factors.
