I received a coverage denial letter from my insurance company after a car accident because they said that since my brother was driving, they won’t pay. He’s not a covered insured party but I lent him the car and he had my permission to drive it. Shouldn’t he be covered since he’s family and he had borrowed car with my permission?

Depending on the state in which you live and the terms of your insurance policy, most people whom you give permission to drive are covered. However, the rules may be different if you live with the person in question. If your brother lives with you and you chose not to list him on the policy, he may not be covered. The specific rules depend on relevant state laws and language within your insurance contract, so you should consult with an experienced car accident attorney who can help you determine whether the denial of your claim was proper.
