In order to keep America’s highways, streets, and roads safer, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration keeps detailed national motor vehicle crash statistics annually. In 2007 crash statistics for large trucks and buses for fatal and nonfatal injuries are provided below. Also, in 2006, the overall number of persons killed or injured on America’s roadways was down in comparison to previous years.  However, the dichotomy between motorcycle and passenger car statistics is alarming.  Passenger car, light truck, and large truck casualties decreased across the board from the previous year’s date; however, motorcycle injuries and fatalities have both seen an increase from last year’s data.
